Supervisor Infection Prevention (SIP)

Position Overview:

The Supervisor Infection Prevention (SIP) will be responsible for overseeing and directing the Infection Prevention and Control program at our facility. The role requires a deep understanding of infection prevention standards and practices, as well as the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to ensure a safe environment for both patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Management:

  • Lead and manage the Infection Prevention and Control program in accordance with state, federal, and organizational guidelines.
  • Coordinate and direct infection surveillance activities and outbreak investigations.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise, train, and mentor infection preventionists and other relevant staff, ensuring that they are knowledgeable and compliant with the latest guidelines and regulations.
  • Coordinate regular team meetings to review data, discuss challenges, and identify opportunities for improvement.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret infection data and trends.
  • Provide regular reports to hospital leadership, medical staff, and relevant committees.
  • Ensure compliance with California's public reporting requirements.

Policy Development & Review:

  • Collaborate with other departments in the development, review, and revision of infection control policies and procedures.
  • Ensure policies reflect the latest evidence-based practices and regulatory requirements.

Education & Training:

  • Develop and coordinate educational and training programs on infection prevention for staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Stay updated on the latest research and best practices through continuous education and professional development opportunities.
  • Liaison with External Agencies:
  • Represent the hospital during inspections by regulatory agencies related to infection control.
  • Collaborate with local, state, and national health departments and agencies on infection control matters.

Resource Management:

  • Ensure that the necessary resources, tools, and equipment are available to the infection prevention team.
  • Manage the department budget and advocate for necessary resources at higher management levels.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in hospital infection prevention, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Extensive knowledge of infection control guidelines and regulations, including those specific to California.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across various hospital departments and disciplines.
  • Proficiency in data management tools and software.
